PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Sonia is undertaking a PhD in archaeological geochemistry at the Southern Cross University in Lismore, Australia. She graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology from San Diego State University in San Diego, California in 2018. She then started an Erasmus joint Master's in archaeological material science in Portugal Universidade de Evora, Greece Aristotle University Thessaloniki and in Italy Sapienza Università di Roma. She graduated from Sapienza in 2021 with her thesis focusing on isotopic analysis of paleo-diet. She has done fieldwork in Italy with the Università di Pisa focused on bioarcheology as well as in Viterbo Italy for her thesis with Sapienza. Her PhD research is focused on the study of, Australopithecus, Homo, and Paranthropus, to compare their evolutionary adaptation of breastfeeding, diet, seasonality, and migration patterns at an early age and observe changes between genders through the study of trace elements and isotopic imaging.
